This photo was taken at Kloofzicht Lodge, South Africa.
The air was still and carried slight chill, just enough to make me wish I brought a jersey.
I used a rear flash to highlight the tree and a long exposure to capture the glow from the city on the other side of the hill, which looks deceptively like a sunset.
You can even see the brightness of the city lights reflected in the water and on the hill at the other side of the valley.
I'm particularly proud of this shot, but constructive critique and comments are equally welcome, thanks.
This is simply beautiful. I thought it was a digital painting at first, I am amazed!
Gorgeous colours, and angle, and I did think it was a sunset. Wow!

Very clever.. it does look like a sunset. Do think i'd have moved the tree slightly off centre though.. so as to not block the view completely & carry the eye... that's just me though
Thanks, I wish I could have take your advice on that, as I agree it would have made a better picture, unfortunately there was other, less attractive trees / bushes adjacent to this tree that would have emerged in a landscape orientated shot...

I'd like to show you some awesome nature related work from more or less unknown artists which deserve more attention - this is a must see, you won't regret it!!!
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it.
Each day we will feature 5 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
I'm a lover of visual impacts. I like brilliant colors and shapes. And I decided to collect a whole stack of deviations that reflect that taste. These pieces showcased below deserve every bit of publicity you can give them. x)P
